  • The APEX NBE, a 4-in-1 machine containing Nordic curls, back extensions, split squats and hip thrusts, and reverse hypers
  • The APEX Nordic Max, a 4-in-1 attachment that adds an FID Nordic bench, seated row, lat pulldown and split squat station to the APEX Adjustable Bench

Slant Boards, inclined platforms that elevate the heels and allow greater forward knee travel during squats, lunges and split squats:

  • The Slant Board offers a fixed incline on a single platform
  • The Slant Stack provides adjustable, stackable platforms for scaling height over time

The APEX Ecosystem, built around the APEX Adjustable Bench, with attachments covering legs, glutes, back, chest and core in a compact footprint.

Accessories to complement the main equipment, including APEX Resistance Bands, APEX Bench Band Pegs, the APEX Squat Belt, the APEX Stryker Pad, APEX Clamps, weight plates and the Torque Bar for wrist and forearm strength.

Each product is crafted to support the principles of KOT training, so you can build strength, improve mobility and reduce the risk of injury from sport, life and training.

How does your gear support Knees Over Toes training?

Knees Over Toes (KOT) training emphasizes strengthening the muscles, tendons, and ligaments around the knee by allowing the knees to travel over the toes during exercises. This approach aims to enhance mobility, build resilience, and prevent injuries.

APEX Fitness equipment is meticulously designed to facilitate this training methodology:

  • Tib Trainers: By focusing on the tibialis anterior muscle, these trainers help in improving ankle dorsiflexion strength and knee stability. Strengthening this muscle is vital for athletic movements and exercises/actions where the knee moves over the toe, reducing the risk of shin splints and knee pain.
  • Nordic Benches: These benches allow for Nordic hamstring curls, which are essential for developing posterior chain strength and building the knee flexion function of the hamstrings in a lengthened position. Strong knee flexors support the knee joint during forward knee movements, aligning with KOT principles, and reduce the risk of hamstring strains during athletic movements.
  • Slant Boards: Slant boards enable exercises like heels elevated squats and lunges, promoting greater forward knee travel and a deeper knee bend. This positioning enhances flexibility around the knee, and builds strength and resilience in the structures that support it.

By integrating these tools into a training regimen, users can effectively adhere to KOT principles, leading to improved performance and reduced injury risk.

Which product should I start with as a beginner?

Embarking on Knees Over Toes training can be transformative for your lower body strength, mobility and overall resilience. For beginners, selecting the right equipment is crucial. Here is a brief overview of the main product categories to guide your choice:

  • Tib Trainers: starting with the Tib Bar Pro is advisable for anyone new to tibialis anterior strengthening. It is user-friendly and allows seamless progressive loading as you build strength. If you prefer unilateral training or have specific imbalances to address, the Solo Tib Bar V2 offers versatility and targeted engagement.
  • Nordic machines: the Nordic Weight Bench V2 is ideal for beginners thanks to its dual functionality, serving as both a full adjustable weight bench and a Nordic curl station. This combination lets you perform a variety of exercises without needing multiple pieces of equipment.
  • Slant Boards: the standard Slant Board provides a fixed incline, making it straightforward for newcomers to add these movements to their routine. As you progress, consider the Slant Stack for adjustable height and more exercise variations.
  • The APEX Ecosystem: if you want one purchase that grows with you, the APEX Adjustable Bench is the foundation, and attachments can be added over time as your training expands.
  • Accessories: APEX Resistance Bands provide varying resistance levels and open up options for loading a wide range of movements, and they are travel friendly. Building a strong grip with the Torque Bar is beneficial for trainees of every level. And every home gym needs weights, so a set of quality Olympic plates is a solid early addition.

For an easy and solid start, consider pairing the Tib Bar Pro with the standard Slant Board. This combination addresses the knee both above and below the joint, aligning with the core tenets of KOT ideology. As you get more comfortable and want to diversify, adding a Nordic machine and accessories will further enhance your training and your results.

How will using APEX Fitness equipment help with my training?

Using APEX Fitness equipment helps you build a stronger, more resilient body by targeting muscles and movements that traditional training often overlooks. APEX gear can complement your current workouts or become the foundation of a brand new routine, especially if your goals include:

  • Bulletproofing your knees and ankles
  • Improving athletic performance
  • Rehabbing or preventing injury
  • Building joint resilience and fitness longevity

Here is how some of our major pieces support those goals:

  • The Tib Bar Pro and Solo Tib Bar V2 strengthen the tibialis anterior and ankle stabilizers, which are essential for deceleration, sprinting, jumping and reducing shin splints.
  • The Nordic machines develop hamstring strength via knee flexion with an emphasis on the lengthened position, which has been shown to reduce ACL injuries and improve sprint speed.
  • The Slant Board and Slant Stack promote full range of motion squatting with greater forward knee travel and tibial inclination, increasing quadriceps strength and knee resilience.
  • The APEX Ecosystem turns one adjustable bench into a full gym, so you can train legs, glutes, back, chest and core without a room full of machines.
  • Accessories like the APEX Squat Belt and the Torque Bar let you load the legs without loading the spine, and train rotational control of the forearms and wrists. These pieces help you build resilience across the entire body, not just the major joints.

Ultimately this gear helps you develop overall structural integrity. The goal is to become stronger, faster and more resilient while enhancing longevity in the process.

You also don’t need a full gym to get started. Most equipment pairs well with basic home gym setups, dumbbells, resistance bands, and even just your bodyweight.

In short: if you can sit, stand, and carry lightweight, you can safely begin training with APEX Fitness tools. And over time, you’ll be amazed at how much stronger and more mobile you become.
