As a preacher pad, this feels very comfortable and works really well. I can adjust it to a very steep angle for when I use my curl bar and a less steep angle when using my cable attachments. It's great that I can dial it in to perfection. I've also used it for sissy squats and hip thrusts. I don't do those as often, but it works nicely for those as well. Somewhere online I saw someone asking if it could be used to do back extensions. I was able to adjust the matrix high enough at a good enough angle to get it to work. I needed to brace my legs using my power rack's leg hold-down attachment. It does work for that even though it isn't one of it's intended functions. My height probably factors into this a bit too. I'm 5'9".

Really impressed with the APEX Matrix Machine. The build quality is excellent and everything feels solid and well thought out. Loving the bench and the attachments I have so far. The Matrix attachment is awesome, very comfortable for sissy squats and using it for preacher curls is 100 times better then the Ironmaster preacher curl. The striker pad is also very well thought out and comfortable for shoulder pressing and chest supported movements.

The Matrix Machine absolutely delivers! It attaches solidly at both the upper and lower attachment points and is extremely well built. The quality of this attachments matches that of the bench. I am glad to now be able to perform single and double arm preacher curls as well as sissy squats (they are safer than traditional!). Additionally, the pad is much more supportive and comfortable on the back foot during split squats as opposed to performing that exercise with the bench. Elevated hip extension/thrusts ROCK on this due to the rotary/pivoting pad. Of the two attachments I ordered with my bench, the Matrix Machine is my absolute favorite!

There's some wobble/give to this attachment, but not in any way that hinders performance, and isn't all that noticeable during actual use.
This attachment is great for locking you down during lat pulldowns or cable rows, but it (obviously) shines for sissy squats. Since you're so locked in, it's easy to do sissy squats with a full standard barbell on your back (unracking from a squat rack or power cage), making it way easier to overload this exercise without worrying about losing your balance.
The swivel pad also makes hip thrusts more fun and easier on my upper back where it would usually connect with the corner of a bench. The pad also works well for preacher curls. The barbell holder for preacher curls could be a bit further out, but it's far better than nothing.

I like the Matrix Machine for sissy squats. You can really lock in for this exercise. The Matrix Machine can also be used for preacher curls. In order to do these correctly, you need to get in close and thats where the joint can touch your stomach. I’d like to see a pad or a cover made for the joint for use during this exercise.

This is the most used attachment of the three that I have purchased. I use it when doing preacher curl (cable or bar), hip thrusts, back extensions, sissy squat (to warm up the knees), and split squats. Definitely a must buy for your Apex bench.
