Holiday Mincemeat Bars Recipe

1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 (27-ounce) jar prepared mincemeat
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or almonds
Powdered sugar

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a 13x9x2 inch-baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Mix brown sugar, margarine and shortening in a large bowl. Stir in flour, oats, slat and baking soda until crumbly. Press half of the mixture into the baking dish. Mix mincemeat and walnuts and spread evenly over bottom layer. Sprinkle with remaining crumbly mixture and press lightly. Bake 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned. While still warm, make diagonal cuts 1 1/2 inches apart in both directions to form bars. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and continue to cool.
