Wake up call for me
Kevin Kauffman: "A wake up call for me"
I had always been a heavy guy my entire life, but after turning 21 and being able to drink. My habits got even worse. I would eat so much junk food and consume so much beer it makes me sick to even think about it now.
My dad got sick from cancer and one of my long time friend's dad had a heart attack. That was a wake up call for me. I decided that if any of that stuff ever happens to me it would be of no fault of my own.
I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer. He taught me the Apex 5 components of fitness. He also coached me on how to eat correctly for my goals. How to count calories, how to exercise and how to make smart choices when it came to health in general. He also taught me about correct food supplementation. I worked with him twice a week and once a week on my own. And I did four days a week of cardio (28-33 minutes) training.
In the first year I lost 135 lbs. Since then I have lost an additional 45 pounds. Last summer I stopped trying to lose weight and add some since. I have been able to put on 15 pounds of muscle and maintain my body fat. I am looking to take this even further in 2004 as I have a whole new set of goals which include adding another 10-20lbs of muscle while loosing another 10-20lbs of fat by years end. I hope to be around 225lbs with 10% body fat.
I know I am much healthier physically and I have 100 times the self confidence I ever had before. Sports have always been a big part of my life and I now find I am able to do so much more than ever before. And the biggest and best reward is knowing that I can walk into any store in any mall and find nice clothes that fit. Never again will I have to shop at a big-tall type store.
Apex is such a big part of my life now, I talk to anyone who will listen to me about it.
Stats:

February 2002. 390+ lbs. 43%(+) Body Fat
Jan 2004. 225 lbs. 17.5% Body Fat
