Body Composition Plateaus (ECEC3-1)

The purpose of this course is to improve communication between Fitness Professionals and clients regarding body composition plateaus. This course identifies the factors that contribute to plateaus, and explores four teaching anchors that will help you discuss plateaus with your clients. Additionally, multiple strategies for overcoming plateaus that are best suited to your client's goals and lifestyle are provided. After this course, you'll be able to answer the following questions:

  • What is a fat loss or muscle gain plateau?
  • Why do plateaus occur?
  • Do some people have a genetically low metabolism that prevents weight loss?
  • Can a client maintain the same weight, even after continuing to reduce caloric intake and increase exercise?
  • Are there limits to fat loss or muscle gain?

By taking this course, you will be able to:

  • Accurately describe a body composition plateau
  • Identify the factors that contribute to a plateau
  • Implement strategies to overcome a body composition plateau for any client
