Faced with contradictory and incomplete media messages about nutrition, many Americans today are confused about nutrition and diet-related health. The purpose of this course is to provide you with the information you need to dispel your clients' misconceptions about nutrition.

  • Explain the role of nutrition in achieving fitness
  • Explore the health effects and dietary guidelines for consumption of lipids, carbohydrates, alcohol, water, calcium, and sodium
  • Examine a sample diet that follows healthy nutritional guidelines
  • Relate diet-related health concepts to your clients in language they will understand.

By taking this course, you will be able to:

  • Better explain health and nutrition issues to your clients
  • Provide appropriate guidelines for clients seeking to improve health in relation to fat, sugar, fiber, alcohol, water, calcium, and sodium intake
  • Describe the potential benefits of various healthy diets, including the Mediterranean diet
