Richard Stewart, MS, CSCS
An accomplished athlete and bodybuilder,
Richard Stewart joined Apex Fitness Group in 1995, bringing to the company
his passion for teaching and fitness.
Stewart received his bachelor's degree in
exercise science from the University of Houston, Texas, his master's degree
in exercise physiology and sports medicine from Indiana University. As
an independent personal trainer for more than 10 years, Stewart helped
thousands reach their fitness goals.
A competitive discus thrower, powerlifter
and bodybuilder, Stewart was California's High School discus champion
in 1975 and Midwestern USA discus champion in 1982. Also in 1982, Stewart
was crowned Midwestern USA Powerlifting Champion (242-pound class), and,
in 1988, he captured the title of Texas Bodybuilding Champion in the heavyweight
class. Stewart's most recent achievements include the title of 2000 National
Champion in the weight pentathlon where he competed in the hammer, shot-put,
discus, javelin and the 35lb-weight throw. He continues to compete in
the Masters Track and Field competition.
In addition, Stewart is a Certified Strength
and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning
Association (NSCA) and is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine.
